OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE TO NOISE AND LIGHTING IN A PINE SAWMILL
The southern region of Brazil, in particular the state of Paraná, stands out for the tradition and outstanding performance of the pine sawn industries, but many of them have high rates of work accidents.
The objective of this study was to evaluate the ergonomic conditions of noise and illumination of the work environment in a pine sawmill, with a view to improving worker safety, health and well-being, as well as greater efficiency in the performance of the activity.
The study was carried out in a sawmill in the city of Jaguariaíva, in the Mesoregion of Central-eastern Paraná State, Brazil, involving the workstations of the machines: peeler, band saw, horizontal saw, refilling machine, grader, harvester, harrow and mincer. Noise collection was performed with a dosimeter during the 8 working hours of employees, repeating this collection process for 8 days. Illuminance collection was performed with luximeter over a period of 5 days, all at the same time due to the variation of natural light during the workday. At the end, the data were processed in spreadsheets and the noise was compared with the NR-15 and the illuminance with the NBR ISSO / CIE 8995-1.
The noise indicated values higher than those recommended in most equipment and machines with higher concentration. above the limit level were the 101 dB (A) Ribbon Saw, the 101 dB (A) Picador, the 101 dB (A) Horizontal Saw and the 100 dB (A) Grinder. The most illuminating workstation was the 911 lux Horizontal Saw, due to the machine layout where it allows more natural light, while the worst was the 309 lux chopper, due to the lack of natural light and bad weather. sizing of artificial lighting.
Both ergonomic variables required intervention in the production process to readjust to the safety, health and welfare conditions of the worker.
